Entry from: Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam Entry Title: "Saigon" Entry: "we crossed into viet nam painlessly on a nice bus. it is just as crowded, if not more, but already looks cleaner than cambodia. we arrived to ho chi Minh city and found a hotel rather painlessly and went out to look around. like cambodia, there seems to be people on the streets at all hours of the day or night. which means cars and buses and motos to dodge all day and night. true instinct would dictate that one should RUN across the street to avoid certain death; however, the people just STROLL. it is like a game of frogger. apparently, if you walk slowly, they can see you and then make the correction to go around. this even applies to buses. it's a trip. north face has a big presence here and this lends itself to more tolerance for shopping from jason. however, we have big bags already and don't really need more coats or backpacks. the market is an onslaught to every sense you can have. smells, sights, sounds, tastes and evening feelings abound. they crowd your personal space and call you madame. the heat is stifling inside and you can see plenty of people sweating or sleeping in the heat. you can eat or buy food in bulk and you absolutely have to bargain. we visited the viet nam war memorial, which here is called the american ...
